2020 National Construction Safety Week & National Safety Stand-Down to Prevent Falls in Construction

During the week of September 14-18, 2020 Perry Engineering participated in National Construction Safety Week and the National Safety Stand-Down to Prevent Falls in Construction. Both are annual events, usually held separately at different times of the year, but held consecutively this year due to rescheduling because of the Coronavirus.

Construction Safety Week is a nationwide event to discuss the importance of safety, recommit to a safety culture, and celebrate our safety accomplishments. It is a time to reflect on why we work safely and the rewards that a safe workplace offers.

Falls are the primary cause of death in the construction industry, and each year Perry Engineering joins construction companies nationwide with project safety stand-downs to discuss fall hazards and fall prevention. We are a Platinum Level participant, having participated for the past 6 years. Perry held 7 stand-downs during the week involving 84 field employees with whom we discussed past fall incidents, efforts we are currently using to prevent falls, and asked for employee’s thoughts and suggestions on fall prevention. Through our education and training efforts we have significantly reduced the number of fall related incidents and injuries.
